SCHOLARSHIP Criteria



The Baltimore Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers offers scholarships each year to students pursuing their Bachelor's Degree in an ASHRAE related field. Eligibility is determined in order of importance based on the following criteria:

1. ASHRAE field of training.
2. Accredited course in recognized college (or program pre-approved by ASHRAE Board)
3. Matriculating for a degree in an ASHRAE related engineering field
4. Residing in, or moving to the Baltimore Chapter assigned area (Permanent resident)
5. Working in the Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) field.
6. Son or daughter of a Baltimore chapter member, living or deceased.*
7. High Scholastic standing or average from previous year.
8. Financial need.
9. A veteran with an Honorable Discharge or member of United States Armed Services.

Applications are reviewed by the Baltimore Chapter of ASHRAE Scholarship Committee anonymously. Points are awarded based on an each applicant's demonstration of the above criteria. Items 1 through 5 are weighted greater than items 6 through 9, although all criteria are important in consideration of awards. Scholarship funds are made available to students directly during the first quarter of the calendar year.
