RESEARCH PROMOTION

What is ASHRAE Research Promotion?

Since 1919, members of The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) have supported the Society's technical research program. Thanks to this strong tradition of member support, ASHRAE is the world's leading resource for technical information in the fields of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R).

ASHRAE Research leads the effort to find answers to a growing number of critical questions facing the HVAC&R industry. It addresses issues such as ozone depletion and indoor air quality; appropriate environments for high technology; storage of food, blood and other critical products, and building system safety in an age of heightened concern over terrorist activity.

Independently funded by contributions from members, their colleagues and businesses, ASHRAE Research creates a constant stream of scientific findings and conclusions. The research defines the fundamental concepts used by engineering professionals to design and manage the technology and methods that insure the comfort and quality of indoor environments. 100% of all dollars contributed go directly to research.

How Did We Do Last Year?

During 2006-2007, our Baltimore Chapter contributed a total of
$24,575 toward ASHRAE's national total of $1,900,000, meeting our chapter's goal.  Congratulations Baltimore!

Thanks so much to those who contributed. Your recognition of the value of ASHRAE Research as represented by your financial support is very much appreciated.

What is Happening This Year?

For our 2007-2008 campaign, the Baltimore Chapter is continuing efforts to raise funds for ASHRAE Research. Sherry Adkins of Schlenger-Pitz chairs our Research Promotion Committee.

Our chapter's goal for the 2007-2008 ASHRAE year is a minimum support level of
$24,000.  Our next step will be to begin donor solicitation efforts, so once again this year please consider continuing in your generous tradition of giving during the call for support of ASHRAE Research.

As many of you already know, donations to ASHRAE are made simple through the acceptance of financial support via the national website (see the item "Contribute Online" at www.ashrae.org).  It will take just moments to make your personal and/or corporate contributions via credit card with this streamlined method.

Please feel free to get in touch with our chapter research contact, Sherry Adkins at
research@ ashrae-balto.org, with any questions you may have about ASHRAE Research.  We ask that you lend your support in the coming months as the RP Committee seeks out donations from our individual members and corporate supporters.

You can find out more about current ASHRAE Research projects by visiting the ASHRAE research page.

Once again, we thank you for the continued support of your time and dollars.  We recognize our donors for 2006-2007 below:
